OK, here’s a special offer. I read an article the other day about email and humour, and how a lot of times humour can be misinterpreted or completely missed in virtual formats.
I have a quirky sense of humour, and I tend to take most things in a light-hearted manner, which might be missed a lot of the time.
I’m interested to see if there are many (any?) people out there who share my brand of humour.
So here’s the special offer. If you can tell me how and why the title of the Atma Yoga video is a little bit of self-deprecating humour, you’ll win yourself a complimentary copy of one of the books on my recommended reading list on the right hand side of my blog. You choose which one. Winner takes all - first in, best dressed. Leave a comment to participate.

ok, here’s my guess:
you’re a principle signer on the lease and as a back up you took out some type of insurance policy in case the thing fails. [and y’all’ve been eating a bunch of chocalate during the wee hours.]

All I will say is this: “People were still booing them when we came on…”
If that isn’t clear enough: “Stonehenge… where the dew drops cry and the cats meow”
Hahahaha! Yeah, of course you’d get it. I realize that humour is a very specific thing, based on shared experiences, values, and knowledge of the speaker, and it’s difficult to read other people’s humour, especially I guess mine, which can be a little obscure.
The title is a reference to a 1984 “mockumentary” about a heavy metal band entitled “This is Spinal Tap“. The movie was a cult classic among rock musicians. Apparently when Steve Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith, saw it he became angry, because he couldn’t get the joke - he thought the movie was real!
If you were ever in a band, you can relate to it. Someone loaned me “Metallica - Some Kind of Monster”. I am soooo glad that I gave up following them when I did (after Justice of course). They’ve continued on their trajectory, and mine has taken a different course. Now I see where they’ve ended up after 15 years, and where I’ve ended up.
I still make jokes about “This is Spinal Tap”, they make movies that look disturbingly like it….
OK Ren, you win. Interested in any of the books on the right hand side? They’re all written by Protestant Christian authors, and are non-denominational in their theology. Take your pick and it’s on its way.
Well, actually I don’t deserve it with the advantage of my background knowledge (having been a member of Spinal Tap’s progeny “Primal Tap”) but if the offer stands I would love to check out “Creating Messages That Connect”
