University preaching has always been a difficult endeavour there in Wellington. Param Satya would go up each week to teach yoga to a handful of people. I took a philosophy paper there in order to be there to get a feel for the place, and ran the club there for two years. It requires significant force projection capability, because you are operating far from the center of force there, namely Gaura Yoga.
From one market day were we did a powerful kirtan we snagged Gopal Guru das, now in Melbourne - at the time a Management Studies student. From the university he came down to Gaura Yoga.
Because Universities are now commercial entities and lease out space to catering businesses, they are no longer so favorably disposed to prasadam distribution which undercuts their tenants’ business and does not generate revenue. We were able to do one or two days large scale food distribution only.
Due to the length of supply lines and limited force projection capability the tack that we are taking this year in Brisbane is to use whatever university presence we are able to field to push people to the center, where the concentration of preaching power is.
Otherwise to sustain a program in a university without a base is very expensive in terms of effort.
In terms of angles to take, I think this one (the Good Food Club) is good. It opens the door to the possibility of limited scale targeted prasadam distribution, which will have its effect. It is also intelligently linked with the center. It is just not possible to field sufficient firepower on the campus itself to pull people out.
This is a first class assault, surely it will be successful.
Who will resist and surely it will attract good people.
Very good approach. To do this in Brisbane also would be a hit.
i get peace and also some devotion done with thev club
